MEET THE DOULAS

We are Karla and Regan, a mother/daughter doula team.

We want to help you achieve a positive birthing experience! We started Art of Birth Doulas because we feel passionate that all families deserve the support and resources they need to have a joyous pregnancy and postpartum journey. Our role is to provide support every step of the way by:

  • Helping you create your birth plan

  • Providing evidence based resources and information

  • Working with your partner during labor

  • Offering comfort measures and encouragement

  • Advocating that your wishes are heard and respected

You will benefit from our combined experience regardless of who you choose as your primary doula.

  • Karla Juusola

Hi! I’m Karla; a DONA certified birth doula, wife, mom to 12, and grandmother to 9. I have many years of experience in pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and child raising. Since having my first child and going into it knowing very little about labor and delivery, I’ve become very passionate about pregnancy and birth. Personally, I’ve experienced a variety of births, from natural, physiological births, an induction, several epidurals, to two cesarean sections, 6 vbacs and a vba2c. I have also completed the DONA International training for doulas, and am certified with DONA. I am also currently studying at the Midwives College of Utah.

Every birth comes with its unique story, and I’ve been fortunate to have had wonderful support even through the more difficult births. I would love to provide that support to others during their pregnancies, births and postpartum, using my experiences, years of learning about birth, and professional doula training. Pregnancy and birth continue to fascinate me, especially bodywork, real food nutrition, and the unique needs moms of many have. In my spare time, I love creating art, and always have a few house and yard projects going on. I look forward to helping you create a plan and prepare for a positive birth and postpartum experience!

  • Regan Hillukka

Hi, I’m Regan! I’m a wife, mother of four, and a total birth nerd. I fell in love with birth after the amazing experience I had with my second baby: a blissful water birth that was almost painless, a night-and-day difference from my first birth! I dove headfirst into learning everything I could about pregnancy and birth. After I had my third baby, (my first home birth!) I decided it was time to become a doula and completed my training with DONA International.

I’m absolutely amazed by the beauty of pregnancy and childbirth, and there’s nothing as incredible as seeing a new baby being welcomed to the world by their parents. While it’s an incredible honor to witness, I think that the most important part of birth is that the parents feel empowered, supported, and respected throughout the entire experience. I believe that knowledge mitigates fear, and reducing fear can create space for a positive, joyful birth experience. I would love to support families as they plan and prepare for their birth day, as well as provide physical and emotional support during labor and birth. I am currently accepting home birth clients.
